Team Building

Gergő Bárány, Head of Events at [eureka], reminds us: team building is a process, not a one-off treat. Here’s why.

Many companies now recognise that team building is important. We’ve already shared tips on how to organise it well. Yet too often, it’s seen as a once-a-year perk—something you do before the holidays or after a big project. Maybe it’s the word “game” that throws us off. In reality, team building can be much more—if we treat it as part of how we work, not just how we celebrate.

Team + Building = A Stronger, Smarter Workplace

Behind the laughter, effective team building is a tool that can strengthen collaboration, communication, and trust. It works best when it happens regularly—ideally every quarter—so it can support teams in real time, not just as an afterthought.

For project-based teams, it’s a way to keep shared goals clear and strengthen connections between people who may not work side by side every day.

But What’s the Goal?

The “why” behind a team-building event can vary—but there should always be one. Some examples:

  • Supporting networking at a conference, helping participants build meaningful connections

  • Integrating team building into organisational development, with observation feeding into future growth plan

  • Strengthening communication, trust, and role clarity in project-based teams

  • Building commitment to the company and to each other

  • Preparing for a demanding period—or creating space to reset after major change

  • Adding interactive elements to town halls or kick-offs to make them more engaging

  • Using gamified networking to make conversations feel natural and inclusive at partner events

Got a Problem? No Problem.

Not every workplace challenge can be solved with laser tag or a pub quiz. When communication breaks down or tensions linger, a targeted team-building program can help.

With the right design, facilitators can both surface and help resolve issues—sometimes in the middle of the game itself. Play can also reveal underlying patterns that aren’t obvious in day-to-day work, whether the activity is cooperative or competitive.

And if hybrid work makes it harder to pinpoint what’s not working? Observing people in gameplay can give you the clarity you need. Your team will notice the difference.

Ready to make your next team-building count for more than just a good time? Let’s design an experience that builds trust, tackles challenges, and leaves your team stronger than before.
