Bringing playful experiences and game-based solutions into corporate life still carries a certain stigma. Many see them as distractions, pulling attention away from “serious” work. Yet, when used with expertise, the power of experience and play can be just as valuable in business as in any other part of life.
Approaching conflicts and challenges through playful, experience-driven methods allows us to reframe situations, improve communication, and ultimately enhance problem-solving. But what exactly is an experience-driven approach? And which playful techniques can create a safe, lighthearted space for positive change? In our latest Game Changers podcast episode, Barathi Tamás, co-founder of BlueColibri, shared his insights.
Engage and Connect
The greatest strength of an experience-driven approach is its ability to create a safe space for participants. Stepping back from everyday challenges gives us a fresh perspective—on problems, on our work, and on each other. When employees connect with their workplace through shared experiences, company culture strengthens, and long-term commitment grows.
“Creating connection with our work or encouraging engagement is much more effective through experiences than with a simple presentation or sales procedure,” says Barathi Tamás.
Research supports this: employees who feel recognised—whether through milestone celebrations or personal acknowledgements—report higher engagement. Yet only 23% of employees say they experience this kind of appreciation (Gallup).
