Telekom’s People Unit set out to open their HR development day with a playful yet practical programme for about 120 colleagues in a three to four hour morning block. The brief asked us to put everyday strengths in motion across roles, lletting people see how familiar strengths travel across HR domains, then bridge straight into an afternoon workshop that would turn lived experience into a shared skills map for 2024.
We proposed PU Heroes, a bespoke narrative game set a little in the future, where a fictional AI supports routine tasks so people can spend more time on human support and creative problem solving.

PU Heroes: delegate, play, learn
We built a sandbox game space with several client stations and a set of PU Heroes placed as life size cardboard figures around the venue. The aim of the game was simple and transparent: solve the challenges at the client stations, one by one, with the help of the PU Heroes.
Each Hero carried two skills and a short QR code profile. This mattered because teams used the heroes to practise skill distribution and a matrix style way of thinking about skills.
At every client station the loop was clear. First, teams matched Hero skills to a four part client scenario. Good choices unlocked hints and small advantages. Next, they tackled a unique playful challenge such as a route build, code cracking or a visual riddle.
Teams were free to start anywhere, and their approaches varied. Some planned carefully by mapping skills and routes. Others followed instinct, discovering the story and tasks as they went. Both paths worked, and both made delegation visible on the floor.

High engagement and teamwork. People moved, collaborated and solved problems in an interactive setting that kept energy high.
Visible delegation and real strategy. Teams built a skills matrix and practised smart allocation before they played the big challenges.
Room for different thinkers. Careful planners and instinct led explorers both succeeded, proving multiple good ways to win.
Fair rules shaped better choices. Early completion bonuses, overuse penalties and hero rest meant strategy mattered more than speed.
Stronger shared story. Colleagues talked about how they approached challenges and characters, and many leaned into their own growth.
