Business Fest 2022 had a slogan that set the bar high: Business is a game. Don't play it alone! The event, held under the Forbes Hungary umbrella across four themed buildings, twelve stages, and a single packed day, was not short of ambition. But the organisers wanted more than a great programme. They wanted to make those words literal, as an actual, physical, playable thing that 2,000 busy, distracted people would genuinely want to pick up, play with, and take home.
It was our fourth collaboration with the HR Fest team. They knew us, and they trusted us. And they gave us one of our favourite kinds of briefs: make something that does not feel like a conference activity.

Pitch, Please!: a festival board game in your palms
We designed a compact card-based board game that dropped players straight into the shoes of startup founders chasing investor buy-in. An easy, communication-focused party game, where the concept was instantly familiar: you pitch your idea, the investors weigh up how much they believe you, and the longer you keep going, the bigger your potential reward, but also the bigger the risk of losing everything when the sharks lose faith.
The game itself was deliberately minimal: six Pitch Cards, six Investor Cards, two dice, a rulebook, and a palm-sized box. No setup time, no instructions you needed to read twice. A few rounds fit into a coffee break, and the whole thing slipped into a festival bag.
But we did not just hand the game out at the door. We split the five components across five featured exhibitor stands scattered throughout the festival grounds. To assemble a complete Pitch, Please! set, visitors had to solve the official event puzzle, say the password at each stand, and collect every piece. The game became the reason to explore the whole festival, a meta-game running quietly beneath the conference itself, turning attendees into active players from the moment they arrived.

Double the dwell time. Average visitor time at featured exhibitor stands was twice the conference average.
The scavenger hunt turned passive attendees into active explorers, with a tangible, replayable prize at the finish.
The game outlived the event. One attendee packed it straight into her bag and brought it back to Slovakia to use as a facilitation tool in her next team meeting.
